Provident Insurance Company, one of the most reputable Insurance firms in the country has donated an amount of GhC100.000.00 to Accra Academy after fire gutted the school.

The fire destroyed personal belongings of the students.

In an interview with a section of journalists during the presentation at the school, the Managing Director of Provident Insurance Company, Mr. Ato Ewusie Wilson, said the gesture was part of the company’s corporate social responsibility.

“As a corporate organisation, we are not just interested in making profit but we are also interested in the welfare of people and this fire outbreak falls within our scope” he noted

He appealed to government, property owners among others to make insurance a priority in order to reduce cost in times of disaster.

“Insurance all over the world has always been the best. You take an insurance because you can’t tell what would happen tomorrow. This for example, if there was an insurance cover with a fire policy, the insurance company would have come in and wouldn’t have been the responsibility of government to find money to fix it,” he said.

“ All persons who own properties especially government should take insurance covers seriously so that they would have something to fall on when disaster strikes.” he added

Provident Insurance Company Ltd. which was formed over 38 years ago is one of the first Ghanaian fully owned companies with a scope of business mainly in motor insurance, marine, workman’s compensation, property, fire among others.
